FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Sourcing & Authenticity
What does "JDM" mean, and why are these baits so hard to find outside of Japan?
JDM stands for Japanese Domestic Market. These lures are designed, manufactured, and distributed exclusively for retail within Japan. U.S. distribution for these brands is often non-existent or heavily delayed. We bypass those hurdles entirely because our dedicated team in Japan works directly with all the major manufacturers such as Megabass, Roman Made or Jackall.
Are your baits 100% authentic?
Yes. Every order ships directly from our facility in Japan, and because we maintain direct relationships with the lure makers themselves, every bait we sell is guaranteed authentic. We do not deal in clones, knock-offs, or unverified secondary markets.
Can you special-order a specific JDM swimbait if it’s not on the site?
Because we collaborate directly with Japanese lure makers, we have unique insight and access to their catalogs. While we cannot always guarantee the availability of highly limited-run or discontinued baits, reach out to our support team with the specific make, model, and colorway you are looking for, and we will gladly consult our manufacturing partners.
Product Specifics & Usage
Do the baits come with hooks?
They aren't shown in the product photos. Yes, all of our baits are shipped fully rigged with factory hooks and split rings straight from the manufacturer. We intentionally remove the hardware for our product photography strictly for aesthetic purposes, allowing you to clearly see the intricate details, paint finish, and profile of the bait without obstruction.
Will I need to upgrade the stock hooks for US bass?
It depends on the bait and your target species. Many premium JDM swimbaits are tuned for highly pressured Japanese waters, where stealth is prioritized over raw hook strength. If you are throwing these baits for double-digit largemouth or stripers in the States, we often recommend upgrading the stock hooks to a heavier gauge treble and upgrading the split rings to prevent hardware failure.
Why is the bait I want out of stock, and when will it return?
Japanese swimbait manufacturers frequently operate on seasonal or limited-batch production cycles. They may produce a specific colorway for one season and then not touch it again for years. If a bait is marked out of stock, we are in direct and constant communication with the manufacturers regarding their upcoming production schedules. Restocks are entirely dependent on when the makers decide to run their next batch.
Are the sink rates the same in the US as they are in Japan?
Water temperature drastically affects the sink rate of resin and glide baits. JDM baits are often tuned for specific water temperatures in Japan. A bait tuned to be a slow sink in 50°F water may suspend or even float in 75°F water. We recommend having lead tape or tungsten stick-on weights handy to perfectly tune your swimbait to your local water conditions.
Technical Specs & Tuning
My glide bait is "blowing out" or rolling over on a fast retrieve. Is it defective?
Not at all. Many premium JDM glide baits are precision-engineered for a specific cadence—often a slow, methodical retrieve, a dead-stick, or sharp half-cranks. If the bait rolls over when you "burn" it, you have likely exceeded its designed speed threshold. If you want to fish it faster, we recommend adding a small amount of tungsten board weight to the belly to lower its center of gravity and stabilize the action.
Are the bait weights listed in ounces or grams?
Because these are genuine JDM products, the physical packaging often lists the weight in grams (g) or standard ounces (oz), depending on the manufacturer. For your convenience, we clearly list the U.S. standard ounce equivalent on all our product pages so you can accurately match the bait to your rod's weight rating.
Do you sell replacement tails, lips, and spare hardware?
Yes. High-end swimbaits are investments, and we know how frustrating it is to lose a proprietary lip or tear an elastomer tail. Because we work directly with the manufacturers, we actively stock replacement tails, lips, and joint pads for the baits we carry. These parts sell out incredibly fast, so we recommend grabbing spares when you purchase your bait.
Care & Storage
How should I store baits with soft plastic or elastomer tails?
You must keep elastomer (Elaztech-style) tails strictly separated from standard PVC soft plastics, as they will chemically react and melt together, ruining both the tail and the bait's finish. We highly recommend storing your premium baits in individual box compartments, ideally keeping the tail sections perfectly straight in their original plastic clamshells or specialized swimbait boxes to prevent warping. A warped tail will immediately ruin a bait's swimming action.
Will leaving my resin baits in a hot car damage them?
Yes. Premium resin and ABS plastic swimbaits can warp, expand, or crack if left in extreme heat, such as a closed vehicle or the deck of a boat in the middle of summer. Extreme heat can also cause the internal weighting systems to shift or the clear coat to bubble. Always store your high-end baits in a climate-controlled environment when not on the water.
Drops & Availability
Do you take pre-orders or have waitlists for highly hyped bait drops?
Due to the highly limited production runs and unpredictable manufacturing schedules of premium Japanese swimbaits, we generally do not accept pre-orders or run waitlists. Baits are sold on a first-come, first-served basis once they have physically cleared quality control at our Japan facility.
How do I find out exactly when rare baits will be loaded onto the site?
The swimbait community moves fast, and highly sought-after drops can sell out in minutes. The best way to secure limited-batch baits is to subscribe to our email newsletter and follow our social media channels, where we announce exact drop dates and times before the inventory goes live.
Shipping, Customs & Packaging
Where do you ship from, and how long does it take?
All orders are packed and shipped directly from our operations center in Japan. Most orders are processed within 72 hours. Once handed off to our international couriers transit time from Japan to the U.S. is usually between 5 to 10 business days, and up to 20 business days for Europe or other countries.
Will I have to pay U.S. customs fees or import duties?
No, the prices displayed already include the new 10% US import tariff and you will not have to pay anything extra upon delivery.
For Europe and other non-US countries, we can't calculate those fees at checkout and you are thus responsible to pay for possible import taxes when the parcel reaches your country.
How do you package high-end swimbaits for international transit?
We know that a damaged elastomer tail or a chipped resin finish ruins a premium bait. All baits are shipped in their original rigid JDM packaging whenever possible. Orders are then boxed with generous impact-absorbing materials to ensure they survive the international journey from Japan to the US in flawless condition.
Returns & Support
What is your return policy?
We accept returns on new, unused, and unopened baits within 2 days of delivery. Because your order was dispatched directly from Japan, the buyer is responsible for international return shipping costs back to our Japanese facility unless the wrong item was sent or the item arrived damaged.
My bait arrived damaged in the mail. What do I do?
While rare, transit damage can happen. Please take clear photos of the damaged shipping box and the damaged bait in its original packaging. Email these photos to our support team within 48 hours of delivery, and we will initiate a claim with the courier to arrange a replacement or refund.
